How to Get Your Full Insurance Policy Documents (Including Har HaBituach), Step by Step
You want to check whether a specific treatment is covered, or to prepare a claim — and you have no idea where your policy is? You're not alone: for most people these documents were never saved, or arrived once by email and vanished. The good news: you can recover everything in three steps — check on Har HaBituach (הר הביטוח) which insurance policies you even have, download the full documents from each insurance company's personal area, and if needed, request a copy from your agent or the company. Here's the full guide.
Step 1: Har HaBituach — find out which policies you have
Har HaBituach (harb.cma.gov.il), literally "the Insurance Mountain", is an official website of the Capital Market, Insurance and Savings Authority, and the service is free. After logging in through the government identification system, you get a consolidated snapshot of every insurance product registered in your name: health, life, car, home insurance and more. For each policy it shows basic details such as the insuring company's name, the type of insurance, the insurance period and the premium.
This is very useful as a first step: you'll discover which health policies exist at all, with which company, and whether there are duplicates. But here it's important to understand the site's key limitation.
What Har HaBituach does not give you
Har HaBituach shows a list — not the policies themselves. You won't find the coverage wording there, the list of exclusions, the reimbursement caps or the copay terms. In other words: to know that you have health insurance with a certain company — Har HaBituach is enough. To know what that insurance actually covers — you need the full policy documents, and those come from the insurance company itself.
Which documents you actually need: the insurance details page vs. the policy terms
A health policy usually has two parts, and each has a role:
- The insurance details page (דף פרטי הביטוח) — also called the "specification" or "schedule" — your personal summary: which coverages and riders you bought, the insured amounts, the premium, the insurance start date and who is insured. Under the Capital Market Authority's provisions on joining an insurance plan, this document is supposed to be written in simple, clear language.
- The full policy terms (תנאי הפוליסה) — the complete booklet, sometimes dozens of pages, that defines precisely what counts as an insured event, what is excluded, what the waiting period is, and how the reimbursement is calculated for each coverage.
To check coverage or file a claim you usually need both: the insurance details page tells you which coverages you have, and the policy terms tell you what each coverage actually includes. For example, to know when coverage really starts — the waiting period — the answer is in the full terms, not in the summary.
Step 2: the insurance company's personal area — download the PDF
At most insurance companies in Israel the process is similar, even if the screen names vary slightly:
- Go to the website of the company that appears in your Har HaBituach list and click "personal area" (אזור אישי).
- Log in — usually with your ID number and a one-time code sent to your phone. On first login you may need a short registration.
- Look for a screen called "My documents", "View documents", "My policies" or similar.
- Download the insurance details page and the full policy terms as PDF files, and save them somewhere accessible.
If the personal area shows only the summary and not the terms booklet, contact the company's customer service (by chat, phone or contact form) and explicitly request the "full policy terms" for your policy, including all riders and service appendices. It's worth mentioning your policy number — it appears on Har HaBituach.
Step 3: the agent route, or contacting the company directly
If you joined the insurance through an agent, they should hold your policy documents and send you a copy on request — this is usually the fastest route. You can also write directly to the insurance company and request a copy.
You also have a regulatory anchor: under the Insurance Contract Law, the insurance company must give the insured a signed document setting out the parties' rights and obligations — that document is the policy — already when you join. And under the Capital Market Authority's rules for handling and settling claims, an insurance company must provide anyone inquiring about a claim with a copy of the policy within 14 business days of receiving the request, and copies of documents you signed or provided to it — within 21 business days. If a reasonable request gets stuck, you can politely mention this — it usually speeds things up.
Which document you need for each purpose
- To check whether a treatment is covered — the full policy terms of the relevant rider, together with the insurance details page confirming you actually have that rider.
- To file a reimbursement claim — the policy number and the insurance details page, and sometimes the exact coverage clause as well. Here's how to file a health insurance claim, step by step.
- To compare policies or check for duplicate coverage — the insurance details pages from all the companies, plus the Har HaBituach list as an overview.
One simple closing tip: once you have the files, save them in a single cloud folder or email them to yourself with a clear name. You do this process once — and from that moment on, every coverage question starts from a much better place.
How Ravit can help
The answers relevant to you are in the policy itself. Send Ravit your policy documents on WhatsApp, ask in plain language, and get an answer based on your policy with a reference to the relevant clause — and when there’s no certainty, Ravit says so honestly instead of guessing.

Frequently asked questions
How do I get the full policy documents, and not just the list of policies on Har HaBituach?
Har HaBituach shows a list of your insurance policies with basic details, but not the policy wording. You usually download the full documents from the personal area on the website of each insurance company that appears in the list, or request them from your agent or directly from the company.
What is the difference between the insurance details page and the full policy terms?
The insurance details page is your personal summary: which coverages you bought, amounts, premium and insurance period. The full policy terms are the legal booklet that defines what is covered, what is excluded and under what conditions. To check coverage or file a claim you usually need both.
How do I download my policy from the insurance company's personal area?
Go to the company's website, log in to the personal area (usually with your ID number and a code sent to your phone), and look for a screen called "My documents", "View documents" or "My policies". From there, download the insurance details page and the policy terms as PDF files. If a document is missing, request it from customer service.
Can I request a copy of my policy from the agent or the insurance company, and how quickly must they send it?
Yes. The insurance company must give you a policy when you join, and under the Capital Market Authority's rules, it must provide anyone inquiring about a claim with a copy of the policy within 14 business days of receiving the request. The agent who signed you up should also hold a copy and pass it on upon request.
Got your policy? Send it to Ravit on WhatsApp — and she'll answer your coverage questions from the document itself, usually within minutes.
